Summer sports: Sciliar Region - Alpe di Siusi The Schlern and the Seiser Alm area are an ideal holiday destination for those who love walking. It offers both demanding hiking and climbing tours to the very tops of the mountains and peaceful and comfortable walks through the blooming fields and pastures.Over 300 km of hiking tracks take you through the amazing scenery, along seemingly endless meadows and up the ridges to the magnificent. And there are plenty of inns along the way for a stop and a rest. The Schlern Nature Park will present itself to you in all its beauty and will make for a holiday you'll never forget. Walking SuggestionsVöls-Völser Weiher-Tuffalm-Hofer AlplOpposite the Völser Heubad Hotel at Obervöls the track marked 1 leaves the main road. You'll pass the Moar and Zimmerlehen farms and after 100 yards there is a fork in the road; take the track to the right to get to Lake Völser Weiher and to a smaller lake called Huber Weiher, after which the track separates again. The left-hand path turns into an unpaved road which is the continuation of track 1, to the right there is a short cut leading through a thick forest. After 35 minutes on the old cobbled path you'll get to the pastures belonging to the Tuffalm. After that the path becomes slightly steeper, and after 40 minutes you'll pass a wayside cross. From there the track marked 3 takes you to Hoferalm, which you can see through the trees after a just couple of minutes. Total time: 2 hours Difficulty: easy Völs-Trafisöler-Prösels From Obervöls follow the road past the Heubad Hotel until the path marked 6 leaves the road on the right-hand side. The path winds its way through beautiful green meadows down to the Völser Bach stream, takes you over it and turns right just after the bridge. Keep on the right-hand track and you'll get to the road leading from Ums to Prösels. Total time: 2 hours Difficulty: low Völser Aicha-Prösels-Unteraicha-Völser Aicha From the village of Völser Aicha on the trail marked 6 to Prösels where you'll have the possibility to visit Prösels Castle. The trail leading to the Laitnkeller inn and via Unteraicha back to Völser Aicha leaves below the castle. Total time: 2-3 hours Difficulty: easy Völser Aicha-Schönblick-Tuffalm-Ums-Völser Aicha From Völser Aicha to the Schönblick inn: trail 7 to Tuffalm or continue to Hofer Alpl. The way back leads to Völser Aicha via Ums and Prösels. Total time: 6-7 hours Difficulty: easy

Total time: approx. 5 hours Day 2: From the Schlernhäuser inns to Schlern peak and Burgstallkante (vantage point) in just 30 minutesback to the Schlernhäuser -> via Maximiliansteig path to Tierser Alpl inn (track marked 3). On to the Mahlknechtjoch ridge-> Plattkofelhütte inn (track marked 4 - 593) Total time: approx. 5 hours Day 3: Via Friedrich-August Path (marked 4-593) to the Sella Joch ridge-> on to the Demetz-Hütte inn (track marked 525). Total time: approx. 4 hours Day 4: T o the Langkofelhütte inn-> Option 1: via Schustersteig path to Plattkofel mountain and the Langkofelhütte inn -> Zallingerhütte inn Option 2: track marked 527 via the Murmeltierhütte inn to the Zallinger inn From there via path 9 to the Tirler-Hütte inn -> over the Seiser Alm (track 12 to Goldknopf, track 7 to Panorama, tracks S and 5 via the Saltnerhütte inn to a fork in the track, then path no 1 on the right-hand side to the Schlernboden-Hütte inn) Total time: approx. 6 hours Day 5: From the Schlernboden-Hütte to Bad Ratzes (track 1) tracks 3 and 2 to Lake Völser Weiher and back to Völs This beautiful tour can of course be shortened (on days 2 and 4).
Mountain Biking:The dirt tracks and steep paths in the area are ideal for both easy and more demanding bike tours. And of course there are plenty of places to hire bikes.Suggestion 1: Start: Völs am Schlern (alt.: 880 m ) From Bar Flora towards Bozen for approx. 400 yards - take the old road to the village of Ums on the left (marked 6). Follow this road up to the village of Prösels. Turn right into an uphill dirt track at the Schneiderlehof farm and follow it up to Schnaggenkreuz. From there the road turns steeper and leads to the woods up to the Schönblick inn. After a rest take the path marked 0, which leads through the meadows to the village of Ums, and take the paved road back to Völs. Total time: 3 hours Total distance: 10 km Difference in altitude: 400 metres Difficulty: medium with strenuous parts Character: beautiful scenic tour with possibility to stop at an inn Suggestion 2: Start: Völs am Schlern (alt.: 880 m ) From the Tourist Office to Obervöls in direction of the Hotel Emmy. Soon you'll be on the track leading to Lake Völser Weiher. Follow the track up to the lake and continue on the gravel path to the camp site and on the old road to Seis to the very same village. The way back takes you again along the old gravel road to the Hotel Perwanger at St. Konstantin, in front of which you turn right and follow the path to Konstantiner Weiher lake. After a rest you can ride back to the Hotel Perwanger and back on the old gravel road to Völs. Total time: 2.5 hours Total distance : 15 km Difference in altitude: 300 metres Difficulty: easy Character: easy tour to warm up Suggestion 3: Start: Völs am Schlern (880 m) From Völs 2 km along the main road towards Obervöls and Ums to the bridge, where you turn left into an unpaved road. The road takes you up to the Hofer Alpl inn (7km) and further up to the highest point of the tour, the top station of the funicular which takes goods to the Schlernhaus refuge. From there you ride downhill over partly steep paths to the Tuffalm inn, where you have a further possibility to rest. Back to Lake Völser Weiher and Völs via a dirt track. Total time: 3.5 hours Total disitance: 18 km Difference in altitude: 1320 metres Difficulty: medium - for advanced mountain bikers Character: very varied scenic circular tour There are of course plenty of other bike tours e.g. on the nearby Seiseralm plateau or in the area of the Rosengarten Mountain.
